UK Reforms Tax Treatment of Foreign Sovereign Investors from 2029
The United Kingdom has announced a significant reform of the tax treatment of foreign sovereign investors as part of its Autumn Budget 2026, presented on 28 October. The proposal seeks to replace the current non-codified sovereign immunity regime with a new statutory framework, providing greater legal certainty and transparency while expanding the circumstances in which foreign states may be subject to UK taxation.
